Marmadukes Delivery and Shipping Information
Marmadukes Antiques provide the
Delivery and Shipping of antiques nationally and worldwide. In certain
circumstances delivery can be free of charge.
The Marmadukes Delivery and Shipping Policy Ethos
At Marmadukes, we try to keep the
costs we are obliged to pass on, to a minimum. We are, of course,
referring to the inescapable and soaring costs of delivery.
However, we do waive delivery charges whenever it's possible to do so. The
prices shown here are our best guide prices.
Guide Delivery Prices for UK Mainland
Our definition of Mainland is for
pricing purposes only. Although technically incorrect, we have to
literally consider the term Mainland as being a destination that can be
reached without an expanse of water having to be crossed (unless of
course, a connecting road bridge exists). We have no choice, as writing
off or absorbing vehicle ferry costs would be an economic impossibility.
It should be noted that if, for whatever reason, we have to hire a courier
to make the delivery, we then reserve the right to charge you accordingly.

UK Mainland Delivery
Logistics
We can deliver the Goods directly to the
room of your choice providing you can guarantee us ease of access. It is
important that you ensure that the Goods will fit into your chosen room.
We cannot emphasize this point enough. You should be aware that if we
can't deliver the Goods to your selected room, we will either leave the
Goods in an area convenient to you or, if we have to return the Goods, we
will have to charge you a restocking fee of 20% of the value of the Goods
(not to exceed £ 200). If you intend ordering a particularly large piece
of furniture, we will prompt you at the time we accept the order about its
size and volume.
Cost of Delivery
To find out the cost of delivery, simply
check where your location is within the areas listed above.
Delivery Date
After you place an order, we will
acknowledge receipt of it. Then we check its availability. If the required
item is still available, we will send you our Acceptance of Order. At this
point we will inform you of the delivery date, unless you have already
made a request for a specific date. If this is the case, we will then
confirm whether or not we can comply with your request. Either way, at
this juncture, the mutually agreed delivery date is established.
Outside UK Shipping
International Shipping
We will only use reputable shipping agents
for international deliveries. We will only use those who have experience
with the transportation of antiques to guarantee that your Goods arrive
with you without trauma.
Packaging
We will ensure that the Goods that you have
ordered will be packaged and protected in an appropriate and befitting
way, prior to being loaded into a shipping container.
Transportation
With worldwide shipping, the choice of
transportation mode is ultimately yours. You have to make the decision of
whether you want us to ship the Goods to you by sea or air. We will
conform to whichever option you choose. However, it's worth us pointing
out to you, that the sea freight option is less expensive.
Cost of Shipping
Unfortunately, it is impossible to list any
costs here, due to the wide and varied nature of factors involved. Each
shipping Contract is individually calculated. We will need you to E mail
us and identify the Goods you want shipped, along with the destination
address. We will then be able to inform you of a total price.
Orders
You will receive a quotation for the cost of
shipping the Goods to your specified destination. If you are satisfied
with the price and intend to proceed, you should E mail and inform us of
this. We will E mail you back, acknowledging the receipt of your
intentions. We will then make every effort to contact you by telephone to
discuss your requirements. If we cannot contact you by telephone, for
whatever reason, we will E mail you. At this point, we can ensure that all
your questions are answered and proceed with payment.
Taxes and Import Duty
As you will appreciate, it is far too
difficult to keep a current list of Import Duty and Tax rates pertaining
to all countries of the globe displayed here on this website. If you are
in any doubt about your local Import Duty or Tax liability, then we advise
you to contact your own Governmental, Customs or Civil Service department.
Do not be concerned about calculating the exact amount, as our shipping
agent in your country will do this and notify you of the amount you have
to pay once your Goods have safely arrived.
Extra Information
For shipments to U.S.A. and Canada, it is
common practice for the following information to be required:
Your
Passport Number Your Social Security Number Your Power of Attorney
Our
shipping agent will take payment of local taxes and then make a convenient
arrangement to deliver your Goods.
Insurance
Marmadukes will automatically add a charge
of 1.5% onto the value of the Goods. This charge is for Standard Liability
Cover. This is a nominal charge. Should you wish for this charge to be
removed, then this will be at your discretion. Please note that if this
charge is removed, Marmadukes or their Shippers will not, in any event, be
liable to any future claim that may arise for defective or damaged Goods.
Assistance for Overseas Clientele
This is simply a helpful note. It is
possible that we might be able to offer further assistance to potential
clients living within certain regions outside the UK Mainland. We mention
this, as it is entirely likely that some concerns of distance and language
might dissuade these potential customers from placing orders.
